HAHA!

YOU'VE FAILED MY GEEK-TEST!

YEARS before Next Gen RIPPED off the phrase describing how one should not bother to fight against something because of it's unconquerability, DOUGLAS ADAMS had his enemies, the Vogons, use the phrase: "Resistance is Useless"!!

I thought you might fall for my TRAP!!

MWAHAHAHAAHA!

And what's this about me masterbating? Sure, I take out and stroke my shiny black Nintendo DS at work every now and again, but...

Say, Stennie, speaking of geeky stuff, what are your thoughts on Battlestar Galactica so far?

Hey, where can I hear some of YOUR music, Bet? As in, your playing that clarinette of yours.

Hey, I enjoyed the Amazing Race application--you guys should apply for more stuff on the show! Perhaps Fear Factor? Or a marriage license?

Elevator To The Gallows: great flick. Quick story: I watched it a few months back, then a week later I went to see Elvis Costello in Oakland. After the show a friend I was with gave Steve Nieve her DVD of it, as she had just watched it as well. He hadn't seen it before, so we were telling him how great it was. So hopefully Steve has seen it by now. It's THE movie to catch.

It was Louis Malle's first feature, and he got to work with the brutally hot Jeanne Moreau. Great ending.

Btw, Stennie, thanks for the "prize." What did I ever do to you?

Woo hoo -- I won! I'm touched, really.

My Amazing Race story of the week -- earlier this week, I was having dinner with some folks who are audio technicians, and one fellow was on assignment in an out of the way foreign location. All of a sudden, one of the people he was traveling with came across a two Americans being followed by a camera crew, who ran up to this guy and said "do you speak English? Do you know where this town is?" He asked the crew whether this was the Amazing Race, the crew was like "no, no, this is a pilot for some other completely different traveling race show" (snort), ["nein, nein, was never head of Gestapo at all... "] and decided he'd be a Fern for this team. The crew members were lying, apparently (imagine that), because my friends saw their colleague on AR in the last few weeks.

You two definitely need to put in those applications as is. You're in. Good characteristics, and a demonstrated quirky, witty sense of humor.

Put in those reasons why you're afraid of traveling, and you're in. I have noticed that if you have any real demonstated history of travel and living overseas and speaking foreign languages, they don't want you. Make them think you'll be totally useless overseas.

My friend and I who often said we should apply to the Amazing Race realize we'd never get in, as between us we speak a boatload of languages, lived in nice countries and hell holes, know where expats usually hang out and could get the local flavor really quickly, actually understand how to convert foreign currencies, and know the flight schedules at many international hubs. We also really never fight and travel well together. Also, we always thought doing the AR would be fun, but we have no desire to be on TV.

Hmmm, an interesting business would be to set up a travel company that did Amazing Race/Road Rules type trips but didn't actually require you to do it on TV. I'd do that in a second.

Bet - wow - the trumpet section!! What a big move! I'm glad you were accepted! Are you watching any of Survivor now? Did you know that Cowboy on there runs a nail shop in the Christiansburg Walmart? I found a story: http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/82581
Perhaps you could have your nails done there- and then you would know someone who has been on a reality show!!

Stennie - how exciting that you were trying to be on Win Ben Stein's Money. That would have been a hoot!! I just love that you were such a Star Trek fan - I religiously watched all of the next generation and voyager - and most of deep space 9. Seems like all sorts of people were on those shows!

Listen Topic of the Week: actors who got their starts on a Star Trek show.

Amazing Race - Loved ya'lls application - they should definitely pick you - I can't wait to hear what else you will be packing!
